Motor Trade Underwriter, Gloucester. Up to £35,000 plus excellent benefits
Working for a leading UK Insurer you will play a key role in ensuring that underwriting guidelines are set, monitored and managed to achieve the departmental goals and strategy.
Implementation through to launch of new scheme propositions and management of existing schemes.
Manage the effective assessment and completion, within required timescales, of new scheme propositions including analysis of financial data, claims data, pricing, policy wordings, reinsurance requirement assessment, underwriting acceptance and claims handling requirements, to achieve business strategy and objectives.
Implementation and development of new scheme propositions including policy wordings and documentation, operational handling and processes, underwriting guidelines and authorities, bordereaux management, IT development requirements to ensure full and effective delivery.
Manage the technical and development aspect of the schemes team to promote the acquisition of new propositions through underwriting of new business leads and opportunities.
Manage the auditing, monitoring, analysis and review of live schemes to an agreed level and within the procedures set for management of scheme performance.
Ensure that underwriting guidelines and procedures are in place, followed, monitored and reviewed, to ensure the commercial strategies, philosophies and objectives are achieved and planned for and regulatory requirements are met. Carry out the technical review process and ensure actions are reviewed and addressed.
Deal with referrals outside the experience and/or authority of Commercial Schemes Underwriters. Referral work includes technical assessment of larger, more complex risks and scheme propositions and the negotiation of suitable terms for new business, change in risk, claims and renewals.

Skills:
Have in depth up to date underwriting experience in Motor Trade Internal and Road Risks with additional Motor Fleet experience preferable.
Experience of commercial schemes and account portfolio underwriting a distinct advantage.
Excellent organisational skills, including project management skills and ability for self-motivation and desire to learn.
The ability to assess technical risk and business propositions and make decisions at the highest level on all aspects of products within strategy and underwriting philosophy, and on cover outside of those products.
Good account development experience and skills, enabling the individual to be able to interpret the strategies required to achieve the objectives laid down in the plan.
At least ACII/Diploma or equivalent technical insurance qualification
