Working in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth, Avonwood Ltd and Avanti Ltd are developing a smart miniaturised sensor system for corrosion and surface damage detection and monitoring on vulnerable parts of remote wind turbine installations. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to join us in this Energy Catalyst Innovate UK project. This multi-disciplinary project allows graduates to be involved in and potentially lead a collaborative industrial project.
You will apply your electro-chemistry and engineering knowledge and experience to introduce innovative techniques to define user and design requirements to develop the smart miniaturised sensor system that incorporates the flexible matt (PCB) sensor and IoT technology. To achieve this you will combine knowledge in the design, damage mechanisms, both analytical and testing with the research and management skills to support the team to achieve the goal of the project. You will also take part in fieldwork and contribute to projects for collecting and analysing data sets.
You will be encouraged to join the Professional body such as the IET and IMechE and to work towards chartered status.
The Candidate
We are looking for a BEng/Masters/PhD graduate (with 2.1 or higher) in Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with:
· Essential knowledge and experience on Electro-chemistry or corrosion detection and/or monitoring
· Good skills in conducting experiment or testing
· Desirable knowledge in sensor and/or IoT technology
· Aptitude for field work in corrosion detection/monitoring
· Good research, writing and reporting as well communication skills
