The Wrenford Centre is a vibrant day centre in Chichester for adults with learning disabilities. We are adding to our talented team and are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and understanding person to encourage and stimulate customers, working with them to promote independence as well as develop and maintain daily living skills.

You will support customers with high levels of dependency and complex needs, and enable customers to be actively engaged in their local community. This could be helping them to prepare for a public exhibition of their work, playing sports or helping with our litter picking project.

The Centre includes the Starburst Arts Project which uses mediums such as drama, dance, ceramics, film making and textiles to develop customers’ skills and confidence.

You will run planned sessions providing active support and build on customer’s existing abilities and expertise. You will support customers with their personal care, physiotherapy programmes and eating and drinking. You will attend to their physical, social, and emotional needs, ensuring their comfort, safety and wellbeing.

A key part of your role will be to plan and lead sessions and write related risk assessments. You will also act as keyworker to a group of customers which includes writing and updating their individual support plans, and attending their annual reviews. Recording and report writing are also key tasks. You need good organisational and interpersonal skills.

You are a team player yet able to work independently using your own initiative. You will work closely with Care Officers to ensure the smooth running of the service. You are proactive in meeting your own personal and professional development needs.

Ideally you will have a Level 2 Care qualification & experience with this customer group but training (including The Care Certificate qualification)can be provided for the right candidate. You will also receive a comprehensive induction programme.
A current driving licence with a D1 category is desirable.

If you wish to discuss if a career in social care is for you and or arrange an informal visit please contact Janet Bone, Mark Peirce or Deborah Allsop at the Wrenford centre on 01243 788544
